Dr. Tomilowo Abijo was born in Lagos, Nigeria. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. After working briefly as a management trainee at SAPID holdings Ltd and as a Teaching Assistant Fellow at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, He was awarded a scholarship by the Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise (BRITE) to pursue a master degree program in Pharmaceutical Sciences at North Carolina Central University, North Carolina in 2008. Thereafter, He worked briefly as a research assistant at the University of Cincinnati before proceeding to Howard University to complete a Doctoral program in Biology. Currently, he is working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Anatomy, College of Medicine at Howard University.
His research interest is focused on using Molecular Genetics to elucidate and understand the molecular processes of Programmed Cell Death (PCD) and Molecular Biology tolls to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying drug and substance abuse addictions.
