Dr.Michael A. McAlear
Associate Professor, Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry
Wesleyan University, USA
Dr Michael McAlear received his Bachelors Degree in Biochemistry from McGill University in 1986, and Ph.D. in Experimental Medicine from the McGill Cancer Center in 1992. Dr Michael McAlear pursued his post-doctoral studies on the genetics of the cell cycle in budding yeast with Dr. C. Holm at the Harvard University Biolabs, and then at the University of California, San Diego. In 1995 he started as an Assistant Professor in the Molecular Biology and Biochemistry Department at Wesleyan University, was promoted to Associate Professor in 2002, and he has been the Chairman of the Molecular Biology and Biochemistry Department since 2010. His research programs have included studies in budding yeast on DNA replication, DNA repair, and more recently ribosome and rRNA biogenesis, and transcriptional regulation.
