Ali Ekici is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Houston. He received his PhD degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2009. He was awarded the Best Graduate Research Paper Award sponsored by the Institute of Industrial Engineers Society for Health Systems in 2009 for his paper entitled “Modeling Influenza Pandemic, Intervention Strategies and Food Distribution”. He was also one of the finalists in the Student Paper Competition sponsored by Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences – Manufacturing and Service Operations Management Society. His research experience and interests are in the field of emergency response logistics, industry applications of scheduling/packing, healthcare logistics,delivery of healthcare, vehicle/inventory routing.
