Biography

Dr. Domenici is currently Translational Medicine Leader within the Neuroscience Center of Excellence of Drug Discovery GSK Verona where he has the responsibility of identifying and developing targets and biomarkers for mood disorders. He has graduated in Biological Sciences Pisa in 1984 and received a PhD in Biological Chemistry at the Scuola Normale Superiore in 1990. After a short period as fellow at the St Jude Children Research Hospital and at the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Milan in 1990 he joined Glaxo now GSK where he has gained about 20 years of experience in Drug Discovery in different therapeutic areas ranging from the identification of novel targets to the development of highthroughput screen programmes. Since 2000 he has increased focus on the identification and validation of molecular biomarkers in neuroscience by a combination of genetic genomic and proteomic approaches. He served as member of the Neuroscience Steering Committee at The Biomarker Consortium of the fNIH. He is author of 40 scientific publications in peer reviewed journals and six book chapters. He serves as reviewer of peerreview journals in the area of neuroscience and proteomics.

Protein and gene expression biomarkers in neuroscience; molecular mechanisms underlying psychiatric disorders; mode of action of psychotropic drugs at genomic level; genome-wide approaches for the identification of novel biomarkers and targets for therapeutic intervention.
