Farayi Musharavati obtained his PhD in Manufacturing Systems Engineering at University Putra Malaysia in 2008. The same year he joined Qatar University as an Assistant Professor.Professor Musharavati holds a BTech. (hons) Degree in Mechanical and Production Engineering, an MSc. in Manufacturing Systems and Operations Management and another MSc. in Renewable Energy. Teaching interests include: Manufacturing Systems Design, Industrial Automation, Systems Simulation and Modeling, Manufacturing Processes, Production Technologies and CAD/CAM. Since joining Qatar University, he has been awarded six research grants in the following areas: (1) Location-Allocation Modeling, (2) Healthcare Process System Improvements Using Simulation (3) Applications of Lean Manufacturing Principles, (4) Plant Energy Efficiency and Optimization, (5) Sustainability and Cleaner Production in Gas Processing Operations and (6) Renewable Energy. He is an active member of five professional societies/organizations since. He has also benefited from a Commonwealth Scholarship which was awarded in 2003.
