Dr. Feng MA, PhD, MD. Stem Cell Biologist and Pediatric Hematologist. Graduated from Nanjing Medical University in 1983, he worked as a pediatrician at Zhenjiang No.1 Hospital from 1983 to 1988. Since then, he had been working at the Children’s Hospital of Suzhou University and got his Master Degree in Medical Science in 1994. He first went to Japan in 1991 for one-year research on hematopoiesis and again to Japan in 1996 (Both by Sasakawa Medical Foundation, Department of Public Health of China). He gained his PhD Degree in Medical Science at the University of Tokyo in 2000. After then, he has been serving as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (JSPS), and then an Assistant Professor, at the Institute of Medical Science, University of Tokyo and Kyoto University. Dr. Ma’s recent work is focusing on hESC / hiPSC-derived hematopoietic cells and their possible use in clinical applications. He is now mainly researching on the regulating mechanisms in early differentiation and maturation of hESC/hiPSC-derived erythrocytes and innate immune cells. He is currently a Professor of the CAMS & PUMC and the Executive Director of the Institute of Blood Transfusion, CAMS.
