Filippo Causa
Department of Materials Engineering and Production
University of Naples, Italy
Filippo Causa is assistant professor of Materials Science and Technology since december 2004. Currently he is part of “Department of Materials and Production Engineering” and “Interdisciplinary Research Centre on Biomaterials” of the University of Naples Federico II. He is Lecturer in "Biomaterials" for the Bachelor in "Materials Science and Engineering" and “Biomedical Engineering” of University of Naples Federico II. In 2003 he has been Visiting Research Scholar at Interdisciplinary Research Centre, Queen Mary, University of London, UK and achieved the PhD in Biomaterials in 2004. Until February 2012, he appears as author of 39 publications in international journals, about 70 conference communications with about 500 citations and an h-index of 12 (isi-web-of science). He is author of an international and two national patents; appointed reviewer for international journals; referee for Portuguese research projects and supervisor of three students in PhD program “Materials and Structures Engineering” at University of Naples Federico II.
His research work is focused on materials for biomedical applications. Such research interest covers four aspects: a) polymer-based platforms for bio-analytical tools, biomedical implants, drug delivery and tissue engineering; b) screening of targeting peptides for materials and biomolecules binding; c) Bio-functional decoration of surface or particles for specific cell interactions and bio-assay; d) molecular motion in nano-confined structures for drug delivery and lab-on-chip applications
