Florian A Szabados attended the Medical School at the University of Hamburg Germany 1991-1998 followed by fellowships at the Institute for Laboratory and Transfusion Medicine Universityhospital Bad Oeynhausen Germany 2000-2006 and Institute for Medical Microbiology at the University of Bochum; He served a rotating Internship at the Universityhospital of Essen Clinic of Haematology and Infectious Diseases 1999-2000. He is a member of the German boards of Clinical Pathology DGKL and BDL and German board of Hygiene and Microbiology DGHM and is a certified consultant for Clinical Pathology and Microbiology Virology and Infection Epidemiology and has additional Special Qualifications for Transfusion Medicine and Environmental Medicine. Since 2006 he has been at the Ruhr-University of Bochum where he is a lecturer equivalent to Associate Professor at the Dept for Medical Microbiology.
Dr. Szabados current research interest is the pathogenicity of staphylococci (especially S. aureus S.lugdunenis and S. saprophyticus), resistance mechanisms in gram negative organisms (ESBLs and carbapenemases) and the use of novel techniques and methods for diagnostic laboratory medicine.
