Folkert Müller-Hoissen obtained his PhD in Physics from the University of Göttingen, Germany, in 1983. After postdoc positions at the Max-Planck Institute for Physics in Munich, Germany, and the Yale University in New Haven, USA, he became an Assistant Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Göttingen. Since 1996 he is a researcher at the Max-Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization and since 2000 also Adjunct Professor at the University of Göttingen.
