Biography

Francisco Abilio da Silva Portela, was born in Portugal. He finished his education from the Coimbra Medical School during the years 1980-1986. He completed his Post Graduate training in general Medicine during the years 1987 & 1988. He completed his Post Graduation in Residency in Internal Medicine in the year 1989 at Coimbra`s University Hospital. He also finished his Post Graduation in Gastroenterology at Coimbra`s University Hospital during the years 1990-1993. He served as Staff of the Gastroenterological Department at Coimbra University Hospital in 1995. He also served as a Consultant in Gastroenterology with a CV mainly focused on Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Endossonography in 2002. He is a member of certain societies of gastroenterology which include Portuguese Society of Gastroenterology, Portuguese Endoscopic Society, Portuguese Coloproctology Society and European Crohn’s and Colitis Organization.
