Gizem Donmez

Gizem Donmez is an Assistant Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine, Department of Neuroscience. Dr. Donmez’s research focuses on the age-related neurodegenerative diseases at Tufts University. She is a recipient of numerous research awards and an author of many research papers. She graduated from Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey with a Bachelor of Science (high honor) degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics. She then did her Master’s and Ph.D on Molecular Biology and Biochemistry in Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Gottingen, Germany. In 2007, she came to MIT Biology Department for post-doctoral studies. In October 2011, she started her own research laboratory at Tufts University. She is a member of numerous scientific societies.
Her research interests are brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases.
