Gun Woong Bahng

He received Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern University, and B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering from Seoul National University. He graduated from Seoul National University in 1976 with an honour and was elected as a member of outstanding engineering student society Tau Beta Pi at Northwestern University in 1980.
He is a member of Korean Jungshin* Science Society, Korean Heat Treatment Society, The Korean Institute of Metals and Materials, and a junior member of Korean Engineering Academy. Over the past 29 years he has worked at KRISS in the area of mechanical tesing especially hardness measurement and materials metrology since he joined KRISS in 1984. He has played major role for the establishment of the Center for Advanced Materials Characterization in KRISS as a part of JICA program supported by Japanese government and has worked as a head of the Materials Property Laboratory, Microstructure Evaluation Laboratory, Office of Global Partnership and most recently Director of the National Center for Standard Reference Data.
