Dr. Guneet Kaur is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Department of Biomedical Sciences, City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong. She is working on process development for biopharmaceutical therapeutics based on small interfering RNAs (si-RNA). She holds a PhD in Biochemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India, where she worked on process strategies for mass scale production of 1,3-Propanediol in bioreactor. Her research focusses on bioprocess engineering, integrated fermentation-separation systems, mathematical modelling and optimisation of bioprocesses, and application of genetic engineering approaches for fermentations. Before joining CityU, she worked on FP7 EU projects at Flemish Institute for Technological Research, Belgium and thereafter at University of Westminster, London, on in-situ product recovery (ISPR) technologies for organic acids and mass scale production of tailor-made bio-based materials for medical devices respectively. She has published various papers (10) in high impact factor international journals and her work is very well cited by researchers worldwide (h-index 5). She has also been awarded with various awards and honours including the ICMR Doctoral Fellowship, Govt. of India; Best Oral Presentation Award, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India; Foundation for Innovation and Technology Nomination for Best Industry Relevant PhD project, IIT Delhi; Top Cited Article Award, Elsevier and; FRQNT Postdoctoral Merit Fellowship Award, Ministère de l’Éducation, Quebec, Canada.
