Dr.Hazel Bantolino Gonzales is an Associate Professor at theInterdisciplinary Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. She is also a licensed chemical engineer,who graduated from the University of the Philippines in 1995. She took up her graduate studies at the University of the Philippines and graduated with the degree of Master of Science in Agricultural Chemistry minor in Environmental Science (2000) and at Hiroshima University with the degree of Doctor of Engineering (2005). She worked as a Teaching Associate at the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Philippines from 1995 to 1999. She also worked as a Lecturer at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Ritsumeikan University from 2005 to 2010. She is a technical English editor for the Journal of Water and Environment Technology
of the Japan Society on Water Environment since April 2005. She is also a member of the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers since 1997. For a year (2004 to 2005) she was a worldwide member of the International Solid
Waste Association (ISWA). She was also a member of Japan Society of Waste Management Experts (2003 to 2004) and Japan Society on Water Environment (2003 to 2004). She just joined TITech this year (2011) but she is set to continue her research regarding food waste treatment, solid waste treatment and wastewater treatment as she collaborates with other professors and researchers involved in similar studies.
