IvanoMezzaroma was born in Rome, Italy, in 1957. He received the Medicine and Surgery degree (summa cum laude) in 1983 from Sapienza – University of Rome, Italy, and the Allergy, Immunology and Infectious Diseases degrees (summa cum laude) from the same University, in 1988 and 1994, respectively. Since 1990, I. Mezzaroma is with the Department of Clinical Medicine of Sapienza – University of Rome. Presently, he is Assistant Professor at Dpt. of Clinical. He is mainly interested in primary and acquired immune-deficiencies and in treatment of HIV-1 disease. He teaches Internal Medicine, Clinical Immunology and Infectious Diseases at the I School of Medicine (Sapienza – University of Rome). He was Principal investigator/Co-Investigator in several clinical research trials of antiretroviral drugs, vaccines and immunomodulating drugs. He received research fundings by the Italian Institute of Health (ISS) and Italian Ministry of University and Scientific Research (MIUR).
