Alpert Medical School, Brown Medical School , USA
Dr. James Klinger is Associate Professor of Medicine at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Center at Rhode Island Hospital. Dr. Klinger is a nationally recognized expert in the pulmonary circulation. His basic science research focuses on the role of the natriuretic peptides and cGMP in mediating pulmonary vascular smooth proliferation, pulmonary endothelial cell barrier function and right ventricular hypertrophic responses. Other basic science interest include the role of bone marrow-derived stem cells in mediating pulmonary vascular remodeling. Dr. Klinger’s clinical research has focused on new medical therapies for pulmonary arterial hypertension. He has been the site investigator on numerous industry sponsored trials and the principle investigator in several investigator initiated trials involving the safety and efficacy of phosphodiesterase inhibitors, natriuretic peptides, nitric oxide and prostacyclins in treating PAH.
