Biography

Dr. Teng received a first class honours degree in economics from the National University of Singapore in 1990. He earned an economics PhD from the University of Toronto in 1997, specializing in public economics. He received a PhD in Political Science from Duke University in 2004, specializing in international political economy. He also have an LLM from the University of London through distance learning specializing in international economic laws. He worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and Academia Sinica (Taiwan). He is currently with the School of Economics at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.

Research Interest

He research in the area of international political economy and games theory. Especially his interests are in the interplays of security and economic issues on the international arena. His book Muskets, Mays and Money: How Military Technology Shaped Geopolitics and Economics, is forthcoming with Versita Publishing. It analyses the effects of military technological changes on international politics and economics from the dawn of civilization to the contemporary world.
