After graduated from Fudan University Shanghai Medical College at Shanghai, Dr. Xu Jin-Fu worked at Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital. He did some work on pseudomonas aeruginosa infection in immunosuppresswd hosts. He proved that KGF expressions of pneumonia in immunosuppressed rats were less than those in immunocompetent ones, which hints that KGF supplement may be a potential way for treating the infected immunosuppressed host. He used the in vivo mouse lung injury model to evaluate the effect of MSC-based Angiopoitin-1 gene therapy. In his postdoctoal training in Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, he worked on a project about how inflammasomes works in the mechanisms of lung inflammation and injury. The result implies a potential clinical interventional means for the inflammasomes related lung diseases such as pulmonary infection and lung fibrosis.
He is interested in understanding the mechanisms of pulmonary diseases and the novel way to treat them. He specially focus on intervention on lung infection and lung injury. His research includes using stem cells as vectors or therapeutic cells to treat lung diseases. He would like to figure out the potential role and the mechanisms of MSCs on these diseases.
