I am a Registrar in General Surgery, based in Sheffield, UK, with a clinical interest in coloproctology, laparoscopic and emergency gastrointestinal surgery and the treatment of complex abdominal wall herniae. I am currently undertaking a period of formal laboratory research towards a PhD, investigating the role of neuropilins in the colonic epithelium and perturbations in colon enteroendocrine cells in response to disease states. I have a strong interest in surgical training and am currently the Vice-President of the Association of Surgeons in Training (ASiT), trainee member on the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (ALSGBI) council and member of the Royal College of Surgeons’ of England Patient Liaison Group. I also have a strong interest in medico-legal issues and am currently undertaking an LLM in Medical Law and Ethics.
