Dr. Paniagua received his MD from the University of Córdoba (1983) and PhD in Medicine from University of Cordoba (1993). Clinical Fellow in Primary Care (1986) and Clinical Fellow in Endocrinology and Metabolism, Cordoba (1996). Endocrinology and Nutrition Physician in University Hospital Reina Sofia (UHRS), Cordoba, Spain (2005). Honorary Professor in Medicine at the School of Medicine since 2004. Manuscript reviewer for Diabetes Care, Nutrition Metabolism and Cardiovascular Disease, Nutrition, Nutrition and Metabolism, Diabetic Medicine, Journal American of Clinical Nutrition, Atherosclerosis, etc. Member of Sociedad Española de Endocrinologíay Nutrición (1999), Sociedad Española de Arteriosclerosis (2004) and Sociedad Española de Diabetes (2007). He has received award from Atherosclerosis Spanish Foundation (2003 and 2008), Spanish Lilly Foundation (2008), First Prize of the College of Physicians Foundation of Cordoba (2003). He has more than 70 proceeding and Abstracts communications. He currently has over 35 perreviewed publications.
Dr. Paniagua research interests are Insulin resistant syndrome and Type 2 diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome, Nutrition and metabolic responses, regulation of energy metabolism and gene expression and signal transduction in adipose tissue.
