Dr. Jui-Yang Lai is currently working as an Associate Professor of Institute of Biochemical and Biomedical Engineering, Chang Gung University, Taiwan. Dr. Lai has significant experience in design and application of biomaterials for ophthalmology and cell/tissue transplantation. He has published 4 book chapters and 25 international peer review journal papers in Archives of Ophthalmology, Biomacromolecules, Biomaterials, Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science, Ocular Surface, and Transplantation, etc. Dr. Lai also serves as an associate editor for Advances in Materials Physics and Chemistry and an editorial board member for 3 international journals: Asian Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biological Research, International Journal of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences, and Journal of Developmental Biology and Tissue Engineering; a peer reviewer for 22 international journals: ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Analytical Chemistry, Biomacromolecules, Cornea, International Journal of Nanomedicine, Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science, Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B-Applied Biomaterials, Macromolecular Bioscience, Materials Science & Engineering C-Biomimetic and Supramolecular Systems, PLoS One, Recent Patents on Anti-Cancer Drug Discovery, and Tissue Engineering Part A and Part B, etc., and he has been invited speaker at various National and International Conferences. He is a member of Society for Biomaterials and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
Dr. Lai’s primary research activities are centered on the development of functional biomaterials for corneal/retinal transplantation and regenerative medicine. His major research projects include design of cell sheet-based therapies for ocular surface reconstruction, and development of drug carriers for topical ocular delivery.
