Kar Wey Yong

Dr. Kar Wey Yong received his B.Sc. degree in Biomedical Sciences from the National University of Malaysia in 2012 and his Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Malaya in 2016. He is currently a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, Schulich School of Engineering, University of Calgary. His research interests include stem cells, tissue engineering, and biosensing. He has extensive experience in stem cell bioprocessing, especially cryopreservation and hypoxic culture of human adiposederived mesenchymal stem cells, and development of in vitro tissue model. His current works focus on the development of human in vitro cerebrovascular disease tissue model. He has published more than 18 peer-reviewed journal articles from journals, such as Materials Today, Theranostics, Trends in Analytical Chemistry, Scientific Reports, and Advanced Healthcare Materials etc.
