Karen Poon

Dr. Karen Poon obtained her B.Sc. and M.Phil. from University of Hong Kong, her Ph.D. from University of Toronto, Canada. She is currently the Associate Professor in the Division of Science and Technology, Beijing Normal University – Hong Kong Baptist University United International College. She was granted with invention right by University of Toronto on a DNA biotechnology in 2000, and she has also successfully filed several patents on biotechnology in China. She has received many awards including Sir Edward Youde fellowship (1989), honor of Zhuhai high-level talent granted by Human Resource and Social Security Office, the People’s Government of Zhuhai Municipal, China (2014), Individual award of Innovative technology 2016, awarded by China Scientist Forum 2016. Her recent research interests focus on bioelectricity and its related applications.
