Professor, Department of Biological Sciences
Western Michigan University, USA
Professor Essani is currently working as a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Western Michigan University. He is a molecular virologist. He is interested in the molecular and immunological aspects of viral infections, and uses tanapox virus as a model. Apart from molecular biology and immunology of tanapoxvirus, current projects also include molecular characterization of integral membrane proteins of breast carcinoma cells.
His major interests include molecular and immunological aspects of viral infections, oncolytic viruses, and colorectal cancer. Tanapoxvirus and frog virus 3 are employed as experimental models in his laboratory.
