Konstaninos A. Filis was born in Ioannina, Greece, in 1966. He received the MD (in 1990) and the Ph.D. degree (in 1999) from the University of Athens Medical School, Greece. Resident in General Surgery from 1993 to 1997, and in Vascular Surgery from 1997 to 2001, in Laikon Hospital, University of Athens Medical School. From 11/1998 to 02/1999, he served as a visiting fellow in Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, at Albert Einstein College of Medicine – Department of Vascular Surgery, Montefiore Hospital, New York, USA (Chairman: Prof. Frank Veith). From 06/2001 to 06/2002, he was a post doc fellow in Endovascular Surgery at Stanford University – Division of Vascular Surgery, California, USA (Chairman: Prof. Cristopher Zarins. Presently, he is Assistant Professor of Vascular Surgery, University of Athens Medical School, in 1st Propedeutic Department of Surgery/Division of Vascular Surgery, Ippokrateio Hospital, Athens, Greece. He has published 70 articles in peer reviewed medical journals. He has 50 presentations in International Congresses and 72 in Greek Congresses as well as, more than 60 publications in Greek Vascular Journals/Book Chapters or Congress Proceedings. He has also been an invited speaker/chairman in 10 International and in 53 Greek Congresses. He has been awarded in five Congresses for his scientific work (second prize in XX World Congress of IUA, 2002, New York, USA). He is a member of the Executive and Administrative Board of the International Union of Angiology and a member of the Editorial Board of 5 international medical journals.
