Mechanical Science and Engineering Department, Bio and Nano Materials Research Lab
University of Illinois, USA
Liang was born on Oct 26, 1979 in China. In 1998, Liang enrolled the Department of Precision Machinery and Precision Instrumentation at University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, China, majoring in Machine Design and Automation. Since 2004, Liang attended University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and received his master in mechanical engineering in July 2006. Upon graduating from Universality of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Liang was admitted to the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign where he joined Bio and Nano Materials Research Lab under the guidance of Professor Iwona M Jasiuk. Liang got his PhD degree with the dissertation focused on multi-scale characterization of bone and large bone defect repair by regeneration in Dec, 2009.
Liang’s research topics include biological materials, tissue engineering and computational biomechanics. He is particularly interested in multi-scale characterization and modeling of bone; tissue repairing using scaffold and growth factors and fracture of composite materials.
