Linda Jones

Dr. Jones is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and is a nurse practitioner at the Birmingham VAMC , Geriatrics and Extended Care. She is dual certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as both a family nurse practitioner (FNP) and a gerontological nurse practitioner (GNP). Dr . Jones has worked as an advanced practice nurse for greater than 30 years and is recognized as an expert in primary care for older adults. Her professional experience has included clinical practice, academics, faith based mission work, the coordination of national and international clinical trials, original research, and multiple journal publications. She has experience as the PI and program director of a HRSA nursing education grant at the UAB School of Nursing. Additionally, she is a frequent lecturer /presenter which includes local, state, and national venues.
Since 1990, Dr. Jones has been affiliated with the UAB Center for Aging and the Department of Medicine, Division of Gerontology, Geriatric, and Palliative Care Medicine. In addition to geriatric primary care, she worked with Dr. Ali Ahmed to establish the UAB Geriatric Heart Failure Clinic and has been the clinical director of the Geriatric Therapeutic Monitoring Clinic.
Her clinical and research interests include heart failure, hypertension, dementia, and gerontological/geriatric medicine interdisciplinary education. Dr. Jones is currently serving America’s Hero’s through the VA Home Based Primary Care program in Birmingham
