Maciej J. Pelak is a radiation oncologist at Prof. K. Gibinski Memorial University Clinical Center of Silesian Medical University of Katowice. He graduated from medical faculty of Medical University of Lublin, Poland. Maciej began his specialist training in radiation oncology in Maria SkÅââ¬Å¡odowska-Curie Memorial Cancer Center and Institute of Oncology, Gliwice branch, Poland in 2011. His self-designed and led research projects involved prognostic biomarkers of brain tumors, brain metastasis and melanoma. In 2015 he completed his PhD in melanoma immunologic pathways. In the current workplace where Maciej is employed from 2016, his research topics include irradiation-treated tumors of the brain and the head&neck region, in particular their MRI and PET/CT biological & functional imaging, prognostic biomarkers as well as new therapeutic approaches. He is a current member of European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology.
