Dr. Manish Chandra Bagchi, Emeritus Scientist, School of Bioscience & Engineering, Jadavpur University, Kolkata received his B.Sc.(Hons) and M.Sc. degrees in mathematical sciences from the University of Calcutta. He was awarded Govt. of India research fellowship leading to Ph.D.(Science) degree of Jadavpur University before joining the position of Scientist at Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, a national laboratory under CSIR in Kolkata. He was the Senior Principal Scientist and Head of Structural Biology & Bio-informatics Division at the time of retirement in 2011. He was also a principal investigator of Indo-Slovenian project and a DBT project. He has guided many students leading to M.E., M.Tech. & Ph. D. (Engineering) degrees. He has worked as a visiting scientist at Institute of Computer Sciences of Czech Republic, Prague; University of Minnesota at Duluth, USA & National Institute of Chemistry, Slovenia. He has also received VLifeSciences best publication award in the field of Chemometrics & Molecular Modeling for the year 2010.
Dr. Bagchi’s fields of specializations include biomechanics, mathematical modelling of biological systems, bio-statistical analysis and in silico drug design.
