Mario Pavone is an assistant professor in computer science at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Catania. His research is focused on the design and develops of nature-inspired algorithms for optimization tasks, that they have been applied on several research areas, as combinatorial, numerical, and systems biology problems. Presently, He is member of Editorial Board for some international journals, and he is also member of many Program Committees for international conferences. He was editor of several special issues published in Natural Computing and Memetic Computing journals, and he was, and is, co-chaired of several international conference. He is co-founder of TaoScience Research center, and he is also a member of the EURO association (The Association of European Operational Research Societies). Recently he has been also invited as Remote Reviewer for Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), for reviewing research project proposals in Portugal.
