Dr. Marta Massada is in her last year of training as an Orthopaedic Resident trained in Sports Medicine and knee surgery at Hospital de Santo António, Porto, Portugal. She has a Master’s Degree in Sports Medicine and she works as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sports Education at Instituto Superior da Maia - Oporto University and a collaborator on the Sports Medicine and Gerontology Postgraduate Courses at the same University. Her research interests include the investigation of athletic knee problems and other injuries that predominantly affect active women as well as injury prevention and ankle instability. She is a team physician for the Portuguese Volleyball Federation working closely with the Female National team. She is a member of the ESSKA, The Portuguese Orthopaedic Society, and the Portuguese Society of Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine. She has published articles and developed several works on a variety of sports. Prior to pursuing her medical career, Dr. Massada was a volleyball player. She represented the National Team as a setter during several years.
