Prof. Wei is currently a professor of the Department of Materials Science & Engineering and the Associate Dean for Research & Graduate Education for the School of Engineering, University of Connecticut. Her research has been focused on the fabrication and characterization of pertinent calcium phosphate-based systems, such as biomimetic apatite/collagen scaffolds, biomimetic apatite coatings, and in vitro and in vivo tests of biomaterials. She has published more than 70 significant refereed journal papers, patents and book chapters. She is currently an editorial member of the Journal of Biomimetics, Bioinformatics, and Biocomputing. She has also served as a panel member for federal funding agents and acted as a reviewer for more than 30 journals. She is a recipient of various awards and honors, such as member of Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering (CASE) and 2007 Connecticut Women of Innovation’s Academic Innovation and Leadership Award.
