Mey Jurdi

Dr. Mey Jurdi is a Professor of Environmental Health and the Chairperson of the Environmental Health Department at the Faculty of Health Sciences, American University of Beirut. Currently she is a member of the board of directors of the Lebanese National Council for Scientific Research (NCSR). She completed her undergraduate and graduate studies at the American University of Beirut (BSc. in Environmental Health, Master of Public Health and Ph.D in Medical Sciences). She is an active researcher mainly in the fields of water quality assessment and management, sanitation, food safety and sustainable healthy cities, villages and healthy schools. At present she is mainly involved in coordinating an associate research unit on water quality assessment and management (Lebanese National Council for scientific Research, Lebanese American University and American University of Beirut), updating the content a national food safety website, lobbying for the approval of the food safety law, and following up on the environmental intervention that were proposed based on the national study on the environmental health profile of public schools in Lebanon.
