Dr. Mohamad Faiz Foong Abdullah is currently working as an Associated Professor at Universiti Teknologi MARA. Dr. Mohd Faiz Foong bin Abdullah is currently the Head of Program for bachelor degree Bimolecular Science course. Dr. Mohd Faiz graduated with a degree in Microbiology from the University of Malaya and has also completed his D. Phil. in Molecular Genetics from the University of Oxford. His responsibilities include teaching, research and administration. His main area of research is genetic engineering and Cellular Biology of the model organism Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Environmental Microbiology. Dr. Mohd Faiz is a member of his university’s Research Ethics committee and also the Institutional Biosafety Committee. At the national level, he is a member of the Genetic Modification Advisory Committee (GMAC), which advises the Malaysian National Biosafety Board on scientific risk assessment and other biosafety issues of living modified organisms.
