Mostafa A. Bassiouni received his BSc and MSc degrees in Computer Science from Alexandria University and received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the Pennsylvania State University in 1982. He is currently a professor of Computer Science at the University of Central Florida, Orlando. His research interests include computer networks, distributed systems, real-time protocols and concurrency control. He has authored and coauthored over 180 papers published in various computer journals, book chapters and conference proceedings. His research has been supported by grants from ARO, ARPA, NSF, STRICOM, PM-TRADE, CBIS, Harris, and the State of Florida. He is an Associate Editor of the Computer Journal- Oxford University Press and an Editorial Board Member of three other journals. He has served as member of the program committee of several conferences, as the program committee chair of CSMA98 and CSMA2000 and as the guest co-editor of a special issue of the Journal of Simulation Practice and Theory, 2002.
His research interests include Computer Networks, distributed systems, real-time protocols and concurrency control.
