Muhammad El-Taha,received a Ph.D. in Operations Research from North Carolina State University in 1987. He has been a Professor of Operations Research in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at University of Southern Maine since 1987. He also teaches Management Science in the School of Business, and is an Adjunct Professor in the Computer Science Department. He served as Graduate Program Director and Department Chair. He has held visiting scholar positions at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Telecommunications INRS (Institut National de la RechercheScientifique)in Canada, and the American University of Beirut. Professor El-Taha co-authored book, “Sample-Path Analysis of Queueing Systems” was awardedthe “1999 Best Publication Award” by the Applied Probability section of INFORMS (the Institute of Operations Research and Management Science).His research publications have been extensively cited in the queueing networks literature.
Dr El-Taha's research interests are in modeling and analysis of stochastic systems, with particular interest in queueing networks and their applications in telecommunications, computer and communications networks, and manufacturing.
