Dr. Nabil Shallik, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar and associate head of anesthesia service in Rumilah Hospital, part of Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar. He also works as a senior consultant of Anesthesia, Intensive care unit and Perioperative Medicine in Hamad General Hospital. He published more than 30 articles in local and international peer reviewed medical journals. He is also a reviewer and editorial board member for number of international peer reviewed medical journals. He is official reviewer of Hamad Medical Research Center (MRC) team. As he was the main author of many book chapters “The Trans-Oral Robotic Surgery for Obstructive Sleep Apnea: a Practical Guide” and “Airway Management in ICU settings” in Intensive Care book. He is a lead researcher in airway management in the Middle East and his research interest mainly focuses on perioperative care and on new tools for airway assessment and management. Dr. Nabil is a pioneer in anesthesia education and a dedicated clinical teacher as he has more than 20 year of anesthesia practice and 15 year of dedicated anesthesia teaching. Dr. Nabil is a core faculty member of Anesthesia Residency program, the first ACGME-I accredited program in the Middle East. He was awarded the Award of Excellence in medical education in Qatar and best teaching material from International Sleep Surgery Society (ISSS) . As a course director for all advanced airway workshops in Qatar Robotic and Simulation Center, he keeps testing, inventing and tailoring basic and advanced educational modules related to airway skills to fit different health care providers. Dr. Nabil is an active contributor to anesthesia literature at international level (Airway Management Academy (AMA) and European Airway Management Society (EAMS), He received an innovation fund from Academic Health System in HMC for Development of three projects (Novel Ultrasound Visible Double Cuff (UVDC) for ETT (Endotracheal Tube), new video-scope (Shalliscope) and Ventilation with View Mask). As a manager he streamlined the clinical service at ENT department, was major workforce for transformation of the Hamad Corporation into academic health system, implementation of Electronic medical record and JCI accreditation of the corporation.
