Dr. Ammar is a criminology professor and Dean of the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, Ontario-Canada. Prior to joining the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, Dr. Ammar taught as a professor at Kent State University in the United States. Her research areas include Arab laws, violence against Arab, Muslim and immigrant women, women in the criminal justice system and restorative justice. Dr. Ammar’s recent research includes an edited volume on Muslims in American Prisons to be published by Lynne Rienner Publishers and First Forum Press. Dr. Ammar has published several manuscripts, more than 90 refereed articles, book chapters and policy reports. Her work has been used in a number of international agencies and governments.
