Paulo Santos received his PhD degree in electrical engineering from Imperial College, London, UK in 2003, working on the development of a spatial reasoning system for mobile robots. He was a research assistant at the School of Computing, University of Leeds, UK from mid-2003 to 2005 where he was part of a team of researchers that conceived and developed a computer vision system that was awarded the British Machine Intelligence Price in 2004. Currently Paulo is an associate professor at FEI, S. Paulo, Brazil in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics. He was the program chair of the 8th Latin American Robotics Symposium in 2010. His research interests include spatial reasoning, cognitive vision and intelligent robotics.
