Peter DOVC is professor in Genetics, Animal biotechnology and Animal breeding at University of Ljubljana. He graduated from Biotechnical Faculty in 1981 and received his PhD in Animal genetics at Technical University, Munich in 1988. After postdoctoral training at Justus Liebig Universität, Giessen and Ludwig Maximilian University, München, he joined the newly established Gendiagnosezentrum. During 1994/95 he was a visiting scholar at the Department of Animal Science, University of California, Davis. From 1995 he is professor and head of Genetic laboratory at University of Ljubljana.. His main research interests are regulation of gene expression in the mammary gland, identification of candidate genes for growth and fat deposition, antigen variation in avian mycoplasmas and conservation genetics. He was president of the Genetic Society of Slovenia, member of the Agribiotechnology board of EBF, member of the expert system at European Commission and president of the Research Council at the Slovenian Research Agency.
