Prasad Shastri is the Bioss Professor of Cell Signaling Environments and the Professor of Biofunctional Macromolecular Chemistry at the University of Freiburg, Germany. He is also the Director of the Institute for Macromolecular Chemistry. He received his Ph.D. from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, (Troy, NY) in 1995 and did his post-doctoral training at MIT under Prof. Robert Langer. He has made several seminal contributions in development of new degradable polymers, in vivo engineering of organs and tissue and drug delivery.
Research interests include biofunctional polymers, nano-scale engineering of surfaces, systems for controlling cell functions, functional imaging, in vivo engineering of tissues, and transdermal delivery.
