Ralph Beneke graduated in medicine (University Clinic Cologne 1987) and sport and exercise science (Germany Sports University Cologne 1989). He has a doctoral degree in medicine (Dr. med., University Clinic Cologne 1988) and habilitated in Sports Medicine and Physiology (Dr. habil., University Clinic, Free University Berlin 1999). As a physician his clinical experience includes working with transplant patients but also top performance athletes supplemented by an extensive record of sport science support and coaching obligations for world-class athletes with and without physical impairments. His research interests are modeling and computer-simulated analysis of energetics, regulation and kinetics of physiological measurements, cellular integrity and function with special attention to event, training, environmental conditions, age, health and clinical intervention. In 2002, he was appointed as a Professor for Biological Sciences at the University of Essex before in 2011, accepting a Professorship for Medicine, Training and Health at the Phillips-University Marburg.
His research interests are modeling and computer-simulated analysis of energetics, regulation and kinetics of physiological measurements, cellular integrity and function with special attention to event, training, environmental conditions, age, health and clinical intervention.
