Raymond George Booth has received his Ph.D in the field of Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University Of California at San Francisco. He got his Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neuroscience from Harvard Medical School, Boston. He is working as a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics and Department of Medicinal Chemistry from the university of Florida
Drug discovery and development for neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. The lab uses experimental approaches that integrate the fields of medicinal chemistry (targeted ligand synthesis, 3-D QSAR computational chemistry, molecular modeling) and molecular pharmacology (in vitro affinity and functional studies, mutagenesis studies, in vivo pharmacotherapy studies). The research is translated to development of drugs targeting brain neurotransmitter G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRS) with pharmacotherapeutic efficacy in neurodegenerative disorders (e.g.,Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease) and neuropsychiatric disorders (e.g., schizophrenia, drug addiction, depression, neuroses, eating disorders).
