Raymond R. Hyatt, Ph.D., SM, is a medical sociologist with appointments as Associate Professor in Public Health and Family Medicine in the School of Medicine and the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University. He is a scientific member of the Tufts University Health and Medical IRB and holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Brown University and an S.M. in Mathematics from MIT.
Dr. Hyatt’s research is focused on the effects of environment on health behavior, particularly diet and physical activity. He has published extensively in the area of childhood obesity and has recently completed a study of vitamin D supplementation for children in the Boston area. Prior to joining the faculty at Tufts, Dr. Hyatt directed research projects at Abt Associates, Inc. in Cambridge, MA funded by various federal and state agencies. Dr. Hyatt is a frequent presenter at national conferences on health and behavioral medicine.
