Recai Yucel is working as an Assistant Professor of Biostatistics in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics within the School of Public Health of University at Albany, SUNY. Following his doctoral training at the Pennsylvania State University, he did a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Health Care Policy, Harvard Medical School. He worked previously as a statistical advisor at the Institute for Health Policy at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. During this time, he was awarded a fellowship by the American Statistical Association and the National Center for Health Statistics to develop and disseminate methods for handling item non-response in complex sample surveys. He also taught at the Department of Biostatistics at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
His research on missing data in complex data structures and on measurement error is largely motivated by methodological issues in health services research and prevention research. Some of his other research topics include computational algorithms and software development, hierarchical and latent variable models, models and methods for response errors and applied Bayesian statistics.
