Dr. Richard Jurevic is an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Biological Sciences. He received his undergraduate and Dental degrees from the Ohio State University. At the University of Washington, he completed specialty training in Oral Medicine and Radiology and a fellowship in Special Care Dentistry, and a PhD in Oral Biology.Dr. Jurevic is currently funded through the NIH/NIDCRinvestigating oral mucosal immunity and oral manifestations of HIV/AIDS, and the effect of genetic variation of innate immune genes has on the oral cavity in HIV infected populations. He is also investigating the complex bacterial and fungal relationships (MycoandMicrobiome) and metabolomics profiles of patients with oral mucositis as sequelae of cytotoxic chemotherapy treatments.
