Dr. Poppiti received his M.D. degree from the University of Miami and completed residency training in pathology at Mount Sinai Medical Center of Florida. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. His primary interest and specialization is breast disease and medical microbiology and he has published extensively in these fields. He is the chair of the A.M. Rywlin M.D. Department of Pathology at Mount Sinai Medical Center and a voluntary professor of pathology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and now provides the pathology curriculum for the Florida International University College of Medicine. He has been rewarded for excellence in teaching in the undergraduate curriculum at UM. He was named Teacher of the Year and was nominated to the A.O.A. alumni by students. He has received awards of merit from several national professional organizations and Top Doctor recognition in Miami.
Dr. Poppiti contributes leadership services for numerous national professional organizations in roles such as ambassador-at-large for the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, division of commissioner for southern Florida for the College of American Pathologists Laboratory Accreditation Program and delegate to the House of Delegates of The College of American Pathologists.
