Dr. Rutger von Seth is a honorary research associate at the Department Politics at the University of Glasgow (UK). He is also a member of the University’s network for the study of Central and East European Studies (CRCEES), which is a structure of international significance. His interests are linked to media developments in Central and Eastern Europe, in particular Russia and Poland. His projects deal with discourse analysis and at present, He is working with a project on contemporary Russian press and online representations of the historically central ‘Polish Issue’. His recent international publications include works dealing with the changes in the public sphere during the collapse of the Soviet system (“The Russian Public Sphere, 1978-2003: The Construction of the Citizen Role through Newspaper Discourse. Agency and the Political Process”) in Critical Discourse Studies (February 2011) and (The Language in the Press in Soviet Time and post-Soviet Russia: Creation of the Citizen Role through Newspaper Discourse.”) in Journalism – Theory, Practice and Criticism (January 2012).
