Sangamesh Kumbar
Department of Chemical, Materials and Biomolecular Engineering
University of Connecticut Health Center, USA
Sangamesh Kumbar received a Ph.D. from the Polymer Research Group, Department of Chemistry, Karnatak University, India in 2003. Soon after his Ph.D., he was selected as a Scientist at the National Chemical Laboratory (NCL) in Pune, which is a very prestigious R & D laboratory in India focused on the chemical sciences. He worked at NCL for a brief period of time form March 2002- August 2004 on various industrial sponsored projects related to polymer characterization. Dr. Kumbar completed his postdoctoral training at the University of Virginia and in January 2008 was promoted to an Assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He joined the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Department of Chemical, Materials and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Connecticut as an Assistant Professor in August 2008.
His research is focused on synthesis and characterization of novel biomaterials/polymers for regenerative engineering and drug delivery applications.
