Dr.Hussein holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Malaysia. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in the School of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia. Dr. Hussein has strong experience in the synthesis, surface modification, and characterisation of carbon nanotubes. He has managed to publish over 100 scientific articles, two book chapters, filled two patents and given talks in invited seminars. Dr. Hussein has received more than 50 national and international awards. In 2005, Dr. Hussein was awarded a Gold Medal for the project “Production of Carbon Nanotubes and Hydrogen” at the 33rd International Exhibition of Inventions, New Techniques and Products held in Geneva, Switzerland. In the same exhibition, he received a special prize in the field of carbon nanotubes from The Technical Culture-Croatia. For his current research interest, Dr. Hussein was awarded a Gold Medal and “The World Invention Award” for the project entitled “Development of New Synthetic Composite for Injectable Bone Replacement Material” at the British Inventors Society/ The 9th British Invention Show/ 13 – 16th October 2009 in Alexandra Palace, London. Recently, Dr. Hussein was also awarded a Gold Medal for the project entitled “Synthesis of Novel 3D Scaffold for Human Skin Cells Cultivation: An Advance in Skin Trade” at the British Inventors Society/ The 11th British Invention Show/ 19 – 22nd October 2011 in Old Spitalfields Market E1. Dr. Hussein has established a vivid international research group that now focuses on injectable bone replacement materials. Currently, he is an editor for eight international journals and nominated as Guest Editor for two international journals. He also reviews articles from over 20 different journals.
